Teach Travel Asia is excited to announce information on several new TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages) course offerings for applicants planning to teach English abroad. These offerings will provide applicants with the flexibility to choose a course that best suits their needs and budget.

Option A: 120 Hour MixLearn TESOL

Overview

The Teach Travel Asia 120 hour MixLearn TESOL course includes three weeks of on-line learning, completed while the applicant is still in their home country, followed by 10 days of in-class learning and practical training at Teach Travel Asia’s school in Hua Hin, Thailand. The total course time (including in class and homework) is 120 hours. The on-line section is taught on Teach Travel Asia’s new, advanced eLearn™ platform. During the first three weeks, applicants will learn about the theory and practice of teaching English, lesson planning and how to teach reading, listening, speaking and grammar. Applicants will then come to Teach Travel Asia’s school in Thailand, where they will spend 10 days learning Thai language & culture, and preparing lessons and teaching at a non-profit English camp for disadvantaged children. Clients who complete the course will receive a TESOL certificate, and go on to be placed in a Thai school.

Eligibility

Anyone is eligible to take the MixLearn TESOL. However, if an applicant wishes to be placed in a job following the course, they will need to apply separately for placement and go through an approval process. Applicants must be between the ages of 19 and 59 and possess at least a high school leaving certificate. The Teach Travel Asia MixLearn TESOL course is recommended for applicants that want to teaching in Thailand. Applicants for other countries are directed to take the Teach Travel Asia 120 hour On-line TESOL.

This course cost is 23,000 Thai Baht.

Option B: 120 Hour On-line TESOL

Overview

The Teach Travel Asia 120 hour On-line TESOL is a six week, on line English training course that provides significant instruction on the theories, strategies and techniques of teaching English as a second/foreign language.

It also includes a cultural foundation to prepare students for the country that they are interested in teaching in. It comprises the following components:

• Information and discussion about the local culture of the country that they have selected to provide exposure and help them navigate their new environment
• Strong grounding in the history and theory of teaching English as a foreign/second language. This is taught in a way that emphasizes application of theory to enhance success in the classroom
• Significant practical training in how to teach listening, reading, speaking and writing in the classroom, including extensive lesson plan development and presentation and feedback both from peers and instructors
• Tons of tips, tricks and examples of how to teach English to every age group
• Advice and guidance for effective classroom management. The total course time is approximately 120 hours. The on-line section is taught on Teach Travel Asia’s new, advanced eLearn™ platform.
• Upon successful completion of the Teach Travel Asia 120 Hour Online TESOL Course you will receive your Teach Travel Asia TESOL Certificate, along with your final grading, as well as a personalized letter of recommendation.

Eligibility

The Teach Travel Asia 120 Hour On-line TESOL course is available for anyone, including clients teaching anywhere in the world. This includes China, South Korea, Mexico, Brazil, Georgia, or any other country where Teach Travel Asia provides placement. However, clients planning to teach in Thailand are required to take the MixLearn or In-class courses.

Option C: 120 Hour In-class TESOL

Overview

Teach Travel Asia’s flagship course is a 120-hour in-class TESOL course at our office next to the beach in Hua Hin, Thailand. It is a four-week program that provides cultural orientation, teacher training, and participation in a non-profit English camp for disadvantaged kids. The first week is an orientation to Teach Travel Asia (history and approach), the town of Hua Hin, Thai culture and language. We will have several fun activities outside of the classroom. Week one will also include an introduced to the background and theory in the disciple of teaching English as a second language. The second week of the course is a deeper exploration of theory and also covers lesson plan and how to teach reading and listening. The third week of the course covers grammar and teaching speaking and the final week is dedicated to classroom management, and lesson preparation and teaching at the Teach Travel Asia non-profit English camp.

The in-class TESOL is recommended for clients planning to teach English in Thailand. However, all clients are welcome even if they plan to teach in other countries.

Option D: TESOL on a Yacht

TESOL on a Yacht Course combines the adventure of traveling around some of the world’s most beautiful Islands in the Phuket region in southern Thailand with the educational rigor of an internationally-accredited TESOL teacher-training course.

Course Overview

This four week course includes two weeks of training at the Teach Travel Asia TESOL school near the beach in Hua Hin Thailand, and two weeks aboard a large sailing yacht island hopping around the Phuket region.
During this time, students will enjoying a range of beach and cultural activities, including fishing, swimming, visiting temples, visiting fishing villages, snorkeling, sea kayaking, hiking, and just relaxing on the beach. At the end of the course students will conduct a non-profit English camp in Hua Hin to Thai children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
