Thailand Adventure Process
Step 1: Pre-departure
- Application
Either apply online or contact your agent. You will need to have a resume ready when you apply, as well as a passport type photograph. Once you have filled in your application, you will be required to pay a non-refundable application deposit. - Visa
Teach Travel Asia or your agent will give you visa assistance, but you will need to apply in person at the embassy in your home country. The Thai visa normally takes 24 hours to process. - Payment
Once you have received your visa, you will need to make payment. Payment can be made directly to Teach Travel Asia or to your agent. - Flights
Once your visa is ready and you have made payment in full, you can then book and pay for your flights. Your agent should have more details on where to get the best flight deals. If you come directly through Teach Travel Asia, we will recommend cheap flight sites.
Step 2: Qualification Process
- Automatic qualification
Those who already possess a bachelor’s degree will automatically qualify for a teaching position. While it is not required, a TESOL Certificate is strongly recommended because we have found that people who have completed this TESOL Certificate find employment easier, adjust a lot better to the culture of Thai schools and become more successful teachers. Because of this they are also more likely to have their teaching contracts renewed because they have greater confidence and are more competent teachers. - Qualification for non-degree holders
Those who do not possess a bachelor’s degree are required to take a four week 120-hour TESOL course in Hua Hin, Thailand at the Teach Travel Asia TESOL school. If students pass the course with a grade of 83% or better they will receive a certificate and be eligible for placement.
Step 3: Arrival, Transit, and Getting Settled
- Arrival
Arrive in Bangkok and Teach Travel Asia will pick you up and take you to a hotel in Bangkok. - Transit
Travel by van provided by Teach Travel Asia to Hua HIn (2.5 hours south of Bangkok). - Getting settled
Check in at the accommodation at Hua Hin, open bank account, hire transportation. - Training
Participate in one week training program on Thai language and culture.
Step 4: Placement
- Placement Meetings
Once the client has qualified for a teaching placement, Teach Travel Asia will arrange a placement meeting. - Placement Confirmation
Once the client has been accepted by a school they will be briefed from the school on where to go and when to begin teaching. - Begin teaching job
The client will begin working as a teacher in the Thai school system.
